Smart elements

Smart elements   are made from

the following materials.

  • Birch plywood (mounting sleeper and wooden springs)
  • LVL (support panel)
  • OSB 4 or 3 (carrier board)
  • CLT (walls and ribs)
  • Solid spruce wood (solid formwork)
  • Solid aspen (wooden dowels)
  • Solid spruce or pine wood (soft wood fibre insulation boards)
  • Gypsum wood fibre boards (ready-to-fill surface)
  • underlays and waterproofing (moisture protection)

The Smart products are dimensioned by the partner company Zero Edition and Ritter Schumacher on the basis of the structural requirements of the respective building project. The structural requirements determine, for example, the thickness of the CLT element in the Smart Wall or the height of the ribs in the Smart Floor. The fire protection requirements determine, for example, the number of layers of the CLT element in the Smart Wall.

The climatic conditions define, for example, the thickness of the support panel in the Smart-Roof to prevent condensation.

The partner company Steko is responsible for compiling the Smart products and creating the work plan.

Werroform is an assembling company that produces the Smart products based on the specifications of Zero Edition, Ritter Schumacher and Steko.

SMART-PROUCTS

Roof

The carrier board of the Smart-Roof is an OSB 3, OSB 4 or LVL board, depending on the requirements. The ribs are the same CLT ribs as in the Smart-Floor and fulfil the static requirements for bearing the loads on the roof. The insulation is made of soft wood fibre and the solid formwork is made of solid spruce. The Smart-Roof is supplied as a finished 1.2 metre wide element - already protected with a structurally suitable underlay membrane - with which rainwater tightness is immediately established. The static construction for rainwater drainage is already prefabricated and only needs to be lined.

Walls

The mounting threshold of the Smart-Wall is made of birch plywood. Birch provides a significantly higher compressive strength than spruce, for example. Birch is therefore used correctly here. It must be plywood so that the installation sleeper remains dimensionally stable once it has been set and installed in the concrete. All other components are simply plugged in - the installation sleeper must therefore be and remain dimensionally stable. The birch wood forms the wooden foundation for the entire building.

The wall mounted on the assembly sleeper is a cross-laminated timber wall (CLT min. 3-ply). This is made from solid spruce boards, which are sufficiently available and structurally suitable. Here, too, it is important that it is a plywood. The two glue joints increase the vapour tightness and by blocking the movement, the clay plaster - which is relevant for the re-drying ability - can only be applied on the inside in a form-fitting manner. CLT (Cross Laminates Timber) is produced at the Võru site itself from Estonian spruce.

The Smart Wall was also customised for the installation of the windows and doors. The window and door frames are assembled in the factory and the window sashes and door leaves are supplied with them.

Suspended ceiling

The carrier board of the Smart-Floor consists of LVL (veneer plywood). The end of the Smart-Floor in the area of the load-transferring static level (Smart-Wall at the bottom, then Smart-Floor, then Smart-Wall again) is made of CLT - similar to the Smart-Wall. The ribs - as vertically installed, statically acting elements - are also made of CLT. The Smart-Floor is placed on site at the points specified by Steko and poured with concrete. Iron reinforcement is not required as the LVL support slab absorbs the tensile forces. The compressive forces are absorbed by the concrete, which forms a bond with the Smart-Floor wooden element when dry. The gypsum fibreboard pre-assembled in the factory forms the ready-to-fill surface of the suspended ceiling.

Balcony

The carrier board of the Smart-Balcony is an OSB 3 board. The ribs are made of solid spruce wood. The soffit is an LVL panel. The parapet parts (frame + panelling made of solid spruce) are supplied - adapted to the length. The support panel is protected against rainwater by a pre-assembled underlay membrane. The physical coordination between the Smart-Floor as a suspended ceiling and the balcony, as well as the rain drainage, is adapted to the respective requirements.
